Kitbashing a SD70M-2 (brainstorming session)
Posted by Mikeymbca on Thursday, January 10, 2008 3:58 PM

I'm thinking of starting a ground up kitbashing project, CN's SD70M-2. I've been croozin the interweb, looking for info, articles, etc., anything that could help out.

There are a couple of BIG questions that I haven't gotten anywhere with and I'm hoping to pick a few of the more experienced and informed brains out there...

1) What drive mechanism would best represent the M-2? Is the frame length, wheelbase, etc the same as the SD70, or maybe the SD90?

2) Is the radiator assembly the same size as the assembly on the SD90MAC? Or is it smaller? I know that there are only two fans on top instead of three, but an RPP rad assembly could be easily modified to suit. This also goes for the rad intakes, which look different on the SD70M-2 than the SD90.

3) Does any one on earth make a cab that could be used? Or one that could be modified to look like the cab on the 70M-2? This also applies to CPs SD90MAC-H units, which I'd also like to build, as it's the same cab (or very, very similar).

Any thought or info are much appreciated.
