No way, I appreciate any show, movie, or presentation concerning trains.

Thank you for your efforts.

No need Ken, we're all old enough to read through the media hype for ourselves. You were working with the best information available to you. The producer is responsible for the content. Strasburg was responsible for the hype. Maybe they were mislead too. I think that a lot of us appreciate the heads up you gave us.

Roughly 4 months ago the local media (I live less than 1 hour away from Strasburg) ran newspaper and tv articles about how the History Channel was to feature Strasburg RR in an episode to be aired in march 2008. From the media articles as well as Strasburg's own website it appeared as though it would be an in-depth Strasburg RR show. It was plainly not to be.

So, for the last 4 months I had many here waiting to see the "big one" only to see maybe 8 minutes of Strasburg. Perhaps I read into more than what the articles actually said, perhaps I was naive in assuming that it would be as they said, perhaps, perhaps......perhaps........

Anyway, I apoligize to any of you that were disappointed in what they got versus what I posted here.

Dont feel bad, you should be happy that old strasburg was on TV

This is what their web site www.history.com says:

(Nothing about Strasburg - should still be interesting though)

8:00 PM

Modern Marvels: Locomotives Zip through the French countryside at nearly 300 MPH on the TGV--the fastest locomotive in the world. Ride on the little engines that could as they guide giant ships through the Panama Canal. Watch two locomotives crash head-on as the federal government monitors safety. Descend 700 feet below the earth's surface where mining locomotives move miners through a maze of tunnels. Then, it's a "jiffy lube" for locomotives inside America's largest maintenance shop. Finally, glide into the future with a locomotive that levitates on a cushion of air.

Great! someone found it! (below) I will be watching.

The Modern Marvels show about logging was on last night. It is a repeat which first aired in 2003 so most of you have probably already seen the show, but it was the first time for me. Had around 6 minutes about logging railroads plus some interesting footage on "donkeys" (not the 4 legged kind).

I do not know when it will air again, but if you have not seen the show, it would be worthwhile to search it out.

BUMP

I did a search today on the History Channel web site and the A&E Networks web site, and got no results for this program. I also sent an Email directly to A&E asking about the production and air-ing information of this program, no reply yet.

Off Topic, on the History Channel, there are some upcoming air-ings of other programs dealing with trains, reruns I believe, but still interesting.

DeepSea Detectives, Underwater TrainWreck: March 10, 11am/5pm EST

Freight Trains: March 12, 11pm EST, March 13, 3am EST, March 15, 6pm EST

Wild West Tech, Trains: March 15, 4pm EST

I visited Strasburg a couple of years ago.It was a great weekend except for the weather,A bit misty,However it didn't spoil the fun.we road the train behind the former Great western RR's #90 2-10-0 decapod.{a personal favorite of Mine}

And of course We went to the Pennsylvania Rr Museum,That place is Awesome!!! We checked out the toy train museum and then of course stayed in the Red Caboose Motel.Big Smile [:D]

My only regret is that My camera at the time was only an 1.3mp digital ...Now I have a Sony 5.2 with 12x optical zoom plus video..Next time I'll get really good pic's..

Steve, thanks for clarifying the relationship between the 2. I wasn't sure if one was a subsidiary or the other or if they were total two different organizations.

I recall the traffic issues in that town back when the movie Witness was filmed......a traffic engineers worst nightmare!
