The 'Southwind" came down thru Alabama into Thomasville and Valdosta Georgia and on to Jacksonville.

The "Southland" came from Chicago and was handled by PRR and L & N to Atlanta.  Central of Georgia handled it down to Albany.  From Albany, Ga to Tampa service  was provided by the Atlantic Coast Line.

I have everything (history wise) except for some pictures of the actual train.

I checked my book Night Trains by Peter Maiken and the "Southland" was a Chicago to Florida passenger train jointly operateded by the PRR, L&N, CofG and ACL. On page 126 the book has a BW photo of the Southland being pulled by an L&N E6 locomotive.  The photo is a head shot so no other details are available.

The book states the PRR initiated the Southland in 1915 in competion with the Royal Palm.  The Southland served the Gulf Coast side of Florida.

One Chicago-Florida train was the Southwind. Not Southland. Perhaps that's the train.

Does anyone have any pictures or information on the "Southland" passenger train which ran from Chicago to Tampa during the 50's.  It made its last run thru our fair city 50 years ago last month.

Thanks for any additional information.

Happy New Year to all,
