Printing Decals

I ordered decal paper from Bel Decal (www.beldecal.com) and tried it out using a color laser printer. Works like a champ! No problems with the printing or application. No adverse reaction to Solvaset either. Work as advertised.
They make paper for both Inkjet and Laser printers in clear or white. I chose to go with the laser paper since I had one available at work and it seems that in my readings, not alot has been said in the positive for inkjets. The laser paper comes out of the printer dry (no runs) and it does not require any clear coat prior to application.
The only drawback is the lack of ability to print white, but I guess there are always work arounds. For instance I painted the lighted number boards on the loco white, then created a decal for the boards that was "white" lettering on the computer screen surrounded by a black box. Once I applied the decal the white paint shows through the clear number appearing white.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this.

ALPS printers are apparently capable of printing white on clear materials, and have been advertised in MR a few times recently. The prices appear to be coming into line with good quality ink-jets, but afford more flexibility, especially in printing decals.

EDIT - just found this: http://www.alpsusa.com/RetailPrinter/How_Index.html . Look for question #7 about printing water slide decals .
