I seem to recall someone writing about that exact same problem way back when the Tsunami was first released, but I don't remember what the final outcome was, and it was so long ago that a search would probably not produce results.

Yeppers! flickers in both instances. A call to Soundtraxx is in the near future.

All connections are good

This is DCC operated

The head light is bright going ahead (Flicker on the tender light when 3/4 throttle ahead or more)

No Flicker on the Head light when going full reverse

No error codes

All connections look good

However the headlight wires looked pinched and I'm now wondering if a stray current (very low voltage ground) is meandering into the chassie?

Are you running this DC?

If you run the voltage too hot, the light will blink intermiitantly.  That is their warning to throttle back.

It's not a loose connection, it sounds like an electrical leak in the lighting circuit. I would contact the manufacturer.

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere since the headlight is working properly.  But my question is, why is your tender (back-up light) on when you're going forward, or did I misread something?

Tender Light flickers while going Full Speed Ahead
Posted by Fergmiester on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 4:00 PM

Just finished installing a Tsunami in my Athearn Challenger. Only took  4-5 hours! then again I made the sound box myself and that took time but well worth it as the sound is awesome.  However  after getting it all back together I got the 11 flash error code. took it all apart cleaned the solder joints and no more 11 flash error code. What I now noticed was an intermittent dim flicker on the tender light as the Engine is full speed ahead and head light on with no flicker just a steady bright light. I figure this might be a ground somewhere but where or is this a glitch in the decoder? Any thoughts
