Hey Frank and Everyone
I have the tools for the bench work, just getting a 2nd shop is all I want. A wise modeller always said to me, if you want an expansion well then you better reward your wife, the wife will be rewarded on xmas with some new jewellery and a trip.
As for the freight cars;
I usually buy a few hundred at a time, whether at my local hobby shop or on business trips. No sense in getting something I buy all the time, I thought about the brass locos, I might look for them online later or at shows.
On a side note, I got my nephew is first train set. I got him the Atlas TrainMan set, Im pretty sure he will like that. I know he loves playing trains when he comes over to my house and out in the shop with me.
CASO
Uh-oh, Caso doesn't know what train items he wants for Christmas - quick, somebody check his pulse!

Per her (wife) request, I keep an updated list of the train wish list, with item description and Walthers Catalog number as well as the phone number for a mail order (MB Klein) supplier.

I learnt years ago to tell her to go to the lhs and get a gift cert. or tell him to put it on the acount. If she goes he usually tells her what I have been looking at without me hintingto him. Just one thing I get ..

Hi Caso,
rather then going to the hobby shop try the Hardware store for items such as Compound Mitre Saw, Dremel tool, Air Compressor, Jig saw, Drill, Foam, Roll of Cork, etc. Otherwise for rolling stock and motive power look give her the Walthers cataloge.
Hope it helps

It's always hard to have your significant other get hobby gifts (secretly anyway) - especially in model railroading because few of the sites have decently advanced wish list applications. I gave mine a list that included some books and things that could be bought online and left things like rolling stock on my 'after-holiday buy more stuff' list.
We sort of celebrate Winter Solstice (c'mon, we live up north and it's when days start getting longer ) and I was pleasantly surprised to open up a really nice DeWalt mitre saw last night. I've already built the 'benchwork' for my little shelf starter layout but that baby will come in handy when I get round to putting together something bigger. Heck. I might even try something non-model related. Previously, my 'shop' consisted of a jigsaw, drill, sander, and some handtools.
So, what about some tools if you're not fully stocked?M
PS: Hmmm. Wonder if that gift was a hint that she'd like crown molding in a couple more rooms?

Looks like good news
Im getting a brand new shop, so Im going to migrate all my wood working equipment into the new shop, and expand the the layout in the past wood working part. Now I need to find time to get building this monster of a layout.

I need some ideas, my wife keeps asking me and I don't know what to tell her. Anything new and hot worth buying in Ho, plastic or brass for a Canadian/ run through power modeller?
Thanks
