I'm getting back into N model railroading after a number of years. Are the Atlas and Microtrain couplers compatible? The older Atlas ones are not but the newer ones seem to be.

Yes they are
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California
