Who is your favorite train company?

Most of my stuff is Athearn, but I also have some Atlas,Bachmann Spectrum, and a couple of MRC F7s.I also have one brass engine, an Alco CSS&SB Little Joe.

I voted P2K, just because I have bought so much of their stuff over the years. Nice stuff, not perfect, but otherwise really good.

Wish I could vote, but I pretty much like all of them, except for the Proto 2000 freight car kits--never seem to go together right (though I know I'm in a small minority, here). Since I don't use diesels, the point of who makes the best is kind of moot, here. But for rolling stock, I've got just about every manufacturer you listed on my Yuba River Sub and they're ALL good.

I was out of the hobby for ten years. I bought a Kato GP35 2 years ago and I was hooked. I have a large roster of old Athearn loco's that will never see the mainline again.[:(] A majority of my rolling stock is Athearn and MDC.

The best manufacture by far is definitely ATHEARN GENESIS
You cant get no better than that. Forget KAto being #1. I do think they are a close second.

For affordability most of my rolling stock is Athearn, but I have gone with p2k power. My acquisition department is nothing but loyal.

I've owned BLI, P2K, and Bachmann.

The BLI had the nicest paint. It somehow looked more like black paint on metal without being unrealisticlly shiney like plastic can be.

The two P2K's I own have be best detail BY FAR and look the best on the track upclose. Low speed is a little uneven on DCC, especially on the turns. (Can't wait for back-EMF upgrades)

My cheap Bachmann 0-6-0 ran like a swiss clock at low speeds

My Spectrum Bachmann, however, ran horribly (I got a fluke I think). So far customer service at Bachmann has been very understanding and I can't wait to get it back to form my final opinion of them.

Proto is my favorite can't beat the detail and running qualities and their factory paint is much better than the $80 more expensive kato's. Kato just can't get CP red or maroon or CN orange right. Atlas would be my second choice again top notch runners and more and better detail and paint. Sorry Kato. Rob

[:D]Very true .... but they were also part of the Rivarrossi family of companies mainly making European outline stuff. They have gone bankrupt and been bought out by Hornby [:p][xx(] ... their stuff was mainly horrid anyway so its not much of a loss.

.... As far as a favorite it depends: Bachman Spectrum (value for money) and BLI (wow factor) for steamers but P2K and Atlas for diesels (nothing to choose between them).

I had to say Kato...even though I haven't been doing this all that long, my Kato Dash 9 is my favorite engine...the Athearns are a close 2nd, lots of bang for the buck there, but that Kato is just...nice. I'm pretty attached to it.

Overall Atlas. Detail is better than Proto, and runs almost as good as Kato.
F units Genesis.The detail is the best (in plastic), but it's not the best runner.

BURN IHC! I Love BLI for it's operation and sound system. Kato and Atlas are VERY close seconds.

As for me i model N Scale right now but have HO Scale stuff as well so the choice is rather ovious What part of K A T O did you not understand? A T L A S is right next to it as far as locos are concerned. For HO frieght cars it is Athearn Roundhouse and accurail for N Scale it would be atlas of course with roundhouse and microtrains right behind them iwould love to have a bunch of microtrains cars but their too damn expensive!!![V] they want damn near 20 bucks for one car as opposed to 7 bucks fo an atlas car

I voted for Kato for quality, but I wi***hey made more steam engines instead of only diesels in HO scale. Since I really prefer steam, I usually buy Bachmann Spectrum, Rivarossi, Broadway Limited, Athearn Genesis, or IHC. Diesels are really a toss-up between Kato and Atlas.
