go to fabric store and get some fake fur in the length you desire and get some RIT dyes and experiment with colors to get the shade of grass you want. This method is shown in many scenic books and some RR magazine articles

How about buying some cheapy long shank carpet, ripping out some so it looks random and gluing that down as field grass. If you do, be sure to paint the underlying matting a flat brown to represent dirt when you expose it by ripping out some carpet material to make random, open spaces. Then come back and randomly spray the long fibers with a mix of greens and yellows to represent different types of grasses.

does anyone know a way of making large fields of nice tall grass without buying some expensive european product?
I've tried to plant several bundles of woodland scenics field grass but it's too tedious.
