There is a list of Tokyo area hobbyshops and model railroad clubs on the database. Don't bother emailing Kato unless you can write fluent Japanese...

Cheers,

Mark.

Frary and Hayden custom built a large model RR for a hobby shop located in a shopping center just outside of Disney Land in Tokyo. The layout was written up in the the July 2001 issue of MR. ( Which I cannot locate at the moment.) I went to see the layout about 5 years ago and it was really nice but, I do not know if it is still there. I believe it might have been built for Tenshodo. I was staying at a hotel near the Tokyo airport and there were busses nearby that went directly to Disney Land and dropped you off at the shopping center where the layout was located. If you can get the MR article it will have more detailed information that may be helpful to you.

Traveling to Japan in October
Posted by sansouci on Friday, September 7, 2007 3:09 PM

Hi-

I'm going to Japan in October and will spend 3 week sightseeing (and riding Shinkansen, too!)

Anybody know any model railroad layouts (as was the case in Berlin that had a huge public layout with a small admission fee) that can be visited in Tokyo or other nearby cities? Also, who are the bigger model retailers or LHS in that area? Could be either N or HO scale.

Thanks,

Ken
