It is a real model train!
Its funny how when I made a thread for deconstructive criticism the deconstructiveness has not yet arrived.

What's there to insult?  Let's critique -

  • Focus - very good.  I can easily read the cab numbers, the 'F' for front on the sidesill, and the details on the truck sideframes.
  • Lighting - very good.  Enough light for the camera to record the image.  Additionally, it's not too bright becuase it is a winter scene.  You look at it a feel cold.  It has the indirect lighting typical of a winter day.
  • Exposure Control - again very good.  There a dark blacks are dark but you can still make out details in the intake grills.  The whites are white, but not washed out.
  • Composition - Very good.  The subject is easy to located, and well positioned in the picture.

The snow effect is also very good.  Quite often the snow is over done and siimply looks like someone sifted flour all over the scene.  One question, what's MA guy doing modeling ICG?

Well, let's see.  I did pass judgement on you pic.  I checked the dicitionary and criticize is defined as "to judge the merits and faults of; analyze and evaluate."  So, I think I did that to.  Now, if you want me to insult, ok - you talk with a funny accent! Wink [;)]  You must, your from Mass.

First off, that is a very good picture.

Second, (only because you're begging to be criticized), the handrails are bent inward like it was involved in a rollover accident. There, I said it. (only because you were begging for it lol)

Other than that little defect, I think the picture is superb.

-Brandon, who hates criticizing overall good photos.

Guilford lol, the only reason I can tell that's a model is because of the bent handrails. Otherwise that looks completely real.

Well, here's a criticism from a close friend of GG who will take no insult from what I say:

Putting that thing on the track is an instant short.

Putting that thing on the track is a guarantee that the owner will use it for some rollover stunt.

Fabulous pic!  Only really 2 comments, not on the pic, but the scene.  Wouldn't running engines have less snow and more ICE, especially around the edges on top and near the bottom it would be melted and even a bit grey???  This is a MINOR point, just because the pic is so good, and you asked for it, mate Tongue [:P]

first off, bent handrails are an FRA defect, so no movement of the engine till it gets repaired, I hope it was on a spur with a derail and tied down properly!

Nice photo, really impressive snow shot, most snow just has that faux look. You did well in capturing a nice recent snow fall. Let's see more NOW!
