lighting bargains to be had

Another forum thread suggested using holiday lights at lower voltage for structure lighting. These lights can be a cheap source for lighting and are now getting marked down.
100 lamp string $0.89 for set.
At Walgreens I found a set of "grain" lights (100 in two circuts) with lighting effects controls AND transformer. Bulbs are about 1/8" diameter and burn white when used out of the box. Could cut apart to suit particular needs. Cost: $2.69 for set - cheap!
Got my own basement now; benchwork done but no trains, yet.

I'm partial to LED's for the following reasons:

Extremely long life
Low voltage
Extremely Low Amperage
Don't give off much heat if proper voltage used

Only set back is the cost however if you scrap toys or old computers theses can be a treasure trove of LEDs
