Grayhound Challenger does i know. i have some CNW stuff. well a hopper and a "400" F-7 locomotive. i want to model more but i haven't had much luck finding CNW stuff.

CNW used to run through town here. if you need any help i might be able to ask a friend of mine who is a huge Train historian type of person.

i mainly/plan to model Burlington Route and Great Northern which turned into Burlington Northern and Rock Island.

I don't do C&NW, even though they bought all of N&W's C628 locos. I just received my Spectrum 2-6-6-2 from Trainworld, and enclosed was flyer, with amoung other things: HO scale LL P2K GP7 in C&NW for $29.99
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California

I model the C&NW as it went through my home town of South Milwaukee WI in the late 1960s. There was still passenger service at that time, although the famous 400 was no longer in operation per se (there was an intercity train and there was a Flambeau 400). By that time there were no more F units in freight (oddly enough they came back in the 1970s!) but there were plenty of first generation Geeps as well as GP 30s and 35s.
I belong to the Chicago & North Western Historical Society and anybody who is interested in the CNW (or the railroads it merged with) should consider joining. The magazine is first rate and the annual conventions are well done. The Society also puts out model cars and structures as well as books and other publications.

I have equipment from a lot of lines as my layout is our club layout. We have themed the operation in the mid 50's but do not hold anyone to that era to avoid turning folks away. My CNW equipment includes a 400 with a pair of E's and string of yellow/green smoothside cars. I also have a three car bi-level commuter with an F as the power. I also have a full L&N Hummingbird, quite a bit of Amtrak in all eras from the SD45PH's with Superliners, Herritage, F40's, P40/42's, P32's. As you can tell I'm into passenger. Oh yes, did I mention VIA and two GO Transit consists. One more, a full length Powhatan Arrow pulled by an N&W "J." All this is HO. My wife has a lot of freight, a full length circus train (something like 20+ cars) a NKP Berkshire and a NKP Mikado in addition to a pair of NKP Bluebird PA's pulling her NKP Passenger trains. I won't mention the N and Lionel stuff currently sitting in boxes. (Guess I did!)

All this is possible only because of a huge club layout in Cambridge, Ohio.

Come on over to Northern Illinois, and you won't be able to NOT find someone who models the C&NW! I'm part of a fairly large NMRA division in Rockford, and literally 30% of the modelers in town are modeling the C&NW (which is really strange, considering Rockford is mostly an IC town).

Although the C&NW isn't my primary road (that's the NKP), I'm modeling Peoria, which was a terminal point on the North Western, so I do have a C&NW transfer run represented. Since I'm a steam addict, I'm using one of the new Bachmann 4-6-0s and a Walther's wood caboose. I'm also aiming for about 5% of my freight car fleet to be C&NW.

I have an FM Erie-Built in CNW which I run with a set of two bilevel commuter cars and a cab car, also in CNW - looks good, even if this couldn't have happened in real life (Erie-Builts didn't have Head End Power as far as I know).

I started out with just CNW, but after the merger, i was keeping modern so I bought a few UP engines. But I still have all my CNWs and run em, just with the number patch on them.
