I have an older Atlas SD35. Removal of the shell was easy. Hold the fuel tanks in one hand, and you have to widen the base of the shell on each side at the tanks. Their is a little knob on each side holding the shell on. Fingers may work, but I use a small plastic strip to pop the shell sides over the knobs.

If it's an N scale model, simply hold the fuel tank in one hand and the body shell in the other and gently pull. If it doesn't budge, maybe wiggle it a bit. The tank may be a bit loose and come off the underframe. If that happens, set it aside and pull on the underframe instead.

How do I get the shell off? I am a little afraid of damaging the detail parts.
Thanks!
