Digitrax Infrared

I started out using "Catnip" infrared, made in Australia I believe. This was first generation infrared and is frustrating (I still use it at a friend's home layout) to use. If you don't have the eye of a sniper and get your aim perfect, the unit won't respond to commands.

Today's infrared is much further along. Test your TV infrared unit out. Instead of pointing at the tv try bouncing the signal to it from walls and ceiling, you will be surprised at how much the tv sensor picks up. The digitrax system is similiar, however in a room your size, I would suggest you get two units; they're cheap enough that you can. Or maybe start out with one expecting to have to add another, if it works without the second one, then great.

I haven't used the Digitrax infrared, but I have put out a number of queries just like yours over the past two years, many seem to be very happy with it. I plan to use it on my layout - track is one third in.
