does anyone know of a powered track cleaner, maybe something with rotating discs on each rail or something? i seem to remember roundhouse or mdc having something like this, but i can't find it anywhere. any other ideas, my layout is in a very dusty (old) basement that also leaks water occasionally, so my track needs cleaning all the time. thanks for the help.

I have used walthers 40foot UP boxcar that has cleaning pad under it. It has worked alright for me. I also weighted them and stretch the springs to give the pad more pressure on the tracks. Of course the old track eraser. My basement is the same. Thats the best I got, good luck.
p.s. Is your fleet made up of SD70Ms and SD40-2s. If not want do you model.

thanks. no no 70M's (yet). believe it or not i model mostly KCS, so yes, several SD-40's, and a few SD60's. got some other stuff, off course, but mostly KCS engines, (no haven't got any KCS AC4400's (yet). But am definately going to have to get at least 1 SP 70M (first road unit I was ever on after I hired out SP9815), and i really like the UP 70M's, so I'll probably get one of those too. what do you model?

UP. Have some SD70Ms one UP so far and three SP ones. One is a renumbered (UP3975) former SP. I also have a true SD90MAC #8501. Lots of SD40-2s too. Some GEs, but try not to buy to many of those. I retired my C30-7 (509) and sold it mouth or two ago to a friend. I have a few SPs, 2 SD40T-2s,1/C44-9W,/C44-9WAC,1/GP40M-2and a SD45. Also have a KCS SD40-2 and SD60. Some BNSF,CN and NS. Wouldn't mind a KCS AC4400 too but I'll wait for the radial side frames to come out for the GEs. Good i hope the track cleaner works for you. So long see ya.
