The new format is OK, I guess. My favorite part of the old version was the
forum/comments from people at the magazine and I am not seeing it
on this new version. I don't use HTML on my email as the comments I
made for Yahoo groups were bouncing because of it.

The new format is much better than the old one. Now don't go and mess it up by adding a lot of graphics that slow it down. I'm lucky to get 28.8Kb connection from my local phone company to connect to my ISP.

I was satisfied with the old format. It was easy to scan and see what I was interested in, not cluttered with graphics.

Dear Bergie or any addministrator guy,
I got a new e-mail address and updated my profile but I haven't been getting any newsletters that I checked off (i.e. railroading, scale model trains). Is there a problem? Help!

I wonder if Yahoo is blocking our e-mails to you. We'll look into that. Since we send so many e-mails, some ISPs thinking we're spamming and block our e-mails. We had that problem with AOL a few months back. We had to contact them and confirm our e-mails are opted-in to at the users request. We'll check Yahoo.

Erik

I suddenly stopped getting my E-mail Newsletters about 3-4 weeks ago. Do I have to do something to Yahoo to fix it?

Actually, I could have sworn that I did specify plain-text (no HTML) messages once before when I signed up at trains.com (I always specify this when I join mailing lists) but I got the new format anyway... Right now there seems to be no option in my account settings to disable HTML e-mails like there are in virtually other similar e-mail newsletter distribution I belong to.
I'm not sure what's meant by "changing HTML settings on my computer" in this context- surely changing anything on my personal machine won't change what the trains.com computers send me. Having users disable HTML rendering in their e-mail client (if that's what's meant above) isn't a real solution either as some of us may want to receive plaintext from some sources and HTML from others- and I have yet to meet a mail client that allowed one to specify that mail some addresses may display HTML and others may not... And some users (namely web-based e-mail such as Hotmail, et. al.) may not have the option to disable HTML in e-mails at all.
So, basically, there ought to be a way to specify, server-side, that HTML not be sent in the first place; most subscription services I belong to have this option, but if trains.com has it I must be missing it.

So much better...thought I'd got the wrong site first of all! Should imagine that your sponsors will be happy, it shows up clearer. Welcome to the 22nd century!!

I really like the new HTML format. It's more interesting to have graphics included along with the text. I found myself going thru more of the newsletter then I did before. It's a great improvement.

Dear Erik
The HTML format looks much more professional. Much easier to read and scan for items of particular interest. Perhaps a "would you prefer text only" link at the top for those who wi***o change their preferences. Unfortunately some of us are wedded to dial-up connections (I live in the UK) so a choice video sizes and qualities will be needed for some time. Have you considered a DVD edition with a collection of videos?

Best regards

Personally I prefer the simpler format. Loads faster, reads faster. If anything looks interesting I can always click the link for more info.

Unfortunately, my e-mail format does not fully receive html formatted mail so I I don't really like it. In addition I prefer reciving e-mail that is easily readable with the option to go to a full blown web page if I want to. I receive sufficient quantities of e-mail (not spam) but business and personal related that html pages often are a bother to navigate.

So, my preference is text format with the option to go to the web page format.

Thanks

Kenny

Verrrrry smooth. As others are saying, it's easier to read...and yes, make it wider.

Am I blind or is MR Express not in this 11-26 edition??

The new format is fine. I also agree about increasing the size of the video clips. But (and you knew there was a 'but' coming, didn't you), what happened to MR Express? I enjoy the brief articles. They have given me some great ideas. Please continue with them.

MR Express took the week off last week. It will be back this week.

Love the new HTML format. It is a lot easier to read and offers more graphics on the main page. However, where did MR Express scoot off to, can we expect to see the editorial comments and extras coming back in the future?

HTML,HTM,POP,STMP,FBI,TV,CSR,CSI, etc. or whatever; any color graphical format is better than text-only for ease of readability. Excellent Format. Keep up the GOOD WORK.
