Central Valley truck problem
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 3, 2003 4:58 PM
I need to find replacement Central Valley trucks. I'm not sure of the type or model number but they have a single post in the center of the truck that slips into a companion hole on the chassis. The post is held by "clips" or springs.

1 of the two trucks on a second hand Rivarossi Dome car is fine. the second needs replacing. I purchased a second hand Rivarossi Dome car that had been modified to use the Central Valley trucks.

anyone know the specific name of the trucks or where I can find them?

Central Valley has been out of the truck business for twenty or thiry years. Nobody picked up the line. You will have to hope that someone with a stash sees this post, or start trolling eBay. Be aware that some of those passenger trucks from Central Valley are considered gold by their owners.

Hello John,

I wouldn't spend much money or time looking for Central Valley trucks for a Rivarossi dome car, because it's not really the right truck for that car. The trucks on the Walthers Budd passenger cars come a lot closer, although I understand that the Walthers trucks have an 8'-6" wheelbase, and the Union Pacific prototype of the Rivarossi car had 9-foot-wheelbase trucks. I believe Precision Scale Co. has a truck that would be correct, but my PSC catalog is at home and I can't check that right now. If you'd like me to check that for you, send me an e-mail offline at asperandeo@mrmag.com.

so long,

Andy
