I took the unit home today. It was a happy day in Falls Valley Railroad.

At the LHS's layout where it was built on a 4x8 foot with 18" radius squeakers with a few kinks down to 15" in one or two spots...

It ran good. The owner ran it under the Digitrax system and it exhibited basically all the sounds of a Broadway QSI that one would expect. Both sets of drivers were articulated and it made it thru the curves and derailed at that one kink as we expected it to.

Later this week I plan to put some revenue freight (15 cars or so) on it and run it uphill down hill and sideways. Then we will understand how it performs.

I have a feeling the loco is a tad light. Perhaps a diecast metal boiler aka Lionel would really really turn it into a barn burner in the slow speed pulling dept.

One more note, the QSI sound in the tender is LOUD. I am hearing impaired and thought once or twice perhaps I can actually turn it down a bit. (That is some thing I usually do first... CRANK IT all the way up.)

I may actually pick up a second unit someday in the future and run it as a consist to help with the longer trains on grade. But let's see how she does on a friend's railroad first.

**Edit, I suspect it has the same sound as the Class A from BLI. Any clues on how best to "Calm the sound" down to more of a Compound noise? The whistle is alot of fun. =)
