Welcome. <br /> <br />An article on the production of Thomas the Tank Engine was published in Model Railroader many years ago (I think it was in the early 90s). From what I recall the "Layout" is actually a series of modules that rest on casters. They used a large room (something like a basketball court I guess) and moved the modules around to assemble a scene and shoot it. I know it is much more complicated than that but I think you get the picture. Enjoy your visits with us. - Ed
