That's pretty cool - there's a few really old steamers about (classifying built pre-1914 or so). City of Truro was recently returned to steamable condition - for those who don't know the history of this loco it's a Great Western Railway 4-4-0 that is thought to have been the first to hit 100mph in 1904 - the speed wasn't verified though, except by the crew on the loco speedometer and some passengers counting mileposts. It's also thought the GWR kept it quiet for a few years after so as not to scare passengers away - remember this was only around 70 years after people claimed that travelling at over 30mph would result in instant death through being unable to breathe! <br /> <br />There's a photo and more history at http://www.gwsr.com/html/city_of_truro.html which might be of interest - enjoy!
