No. I was wondering whether the painting went any better for you this time.

Great work by everyone!

Well here's the latest project. Maritime's old engine house was torn down to make room for an intermodal terminal. It small, but will do the trick. The tracks were repositioned and a retaining wall added to increase the size of the ramp. The old Seaboard 40' trailer against the fence serves as a storage locker. I still need to add lines, signs and some other details plus do a little more weathering.

Here's a before shot. The new engine facility will be located where the benchwork is visible in the center. The upper tunnel has also been removed. The plan is for some building flats for an urban transition up there.

Picked it up at Bruce's Trains this afternoon before Mass, it's a Sunset "Prestige" SP MT-5 with directional headlights. Ain't she a purty lil' thang, though?

Next week I'll show some more of my SP power.

Tom, I think I eyed that very same locomotive in Bruce's brass case a few days ago.

Jonathon,
The Atlas CW40s all seem to be sold out (I reserved mine back in December) - but not to worry, BLI will be selling a close cousin starting in July: the AC6000-CW. Looks every bit as awesome as the CW40-8.

Sometimes I forget that not everyone has a lot of bandwidth. My appologies.

However in my own defense my post was "only 56.7K". Other post were considerably larger. Some were as much as 8 times my post size.

I use a viewing program called Polyview. However, most drawing/viewing programs have a fuction for changing image size. Right click and see if yours does. If not Polyview is shareware.

I make a rule to limit the size to 800 Wide (and/or 600 high)

As to photo size, I use Adobe photo shop, and reduce them to 5x7, then store them on my website until I need them. And you're right, Aggro, the MT-5 WAS in Bruce's, right next to an MT-4 which I was considering. I went with the MT-5 because it was cheaper (the MT-4 in the case has been re-weighted to 2-1/2 pounds for the loco alone, I was told!) and I already have an older Balboa MT-4, anyway. What I REALLY wanted was an MT-2 without the Skyline casing and an Elesco FWH, but maybe I'll tinker with that Spectrum USRA SP heavy mountain I picked up a couple of months ago.

Ah yes, but sold out never means you can't find them. Train shows, old store stock, ebay to name a few. I'm reluctant to buy a BLI diesel (even though every diesel besides their SD40-2 is great), and since Atlas is a very respected MR name, I think I'll go with their 8-40CW.

RE photo size:

Anything file size larger than 150 KB is big and will take a long time to load in slow dial-up situations. You can right click on an image and see the size of the file. There are many large photos is this thread. . Size in pixels is only one measure of photo size. File size is more accurate. I can generate a high resolution photo that is small in dimension, but large in KB. Any big files should be compressed. In the early web days this was a necessity because large files (300KB) took forever to load and the equipment couldn't handle the file size once it was open. Recent advances in web speed and higher powered computers have made this much less of an issue.

Your browser or the site software crunches the photo down to manageable screen size but yourcomputer is still juggling all of the data. This makes the screen scroll funny and other oddities. The more recent computers have more ram and better capabilities to handle this so some users won't even notice. Those on Windows 98 (yours truly) do notice. Anyone not on DSL is waiting for this thread to load....

For the record - not intending ti diss or start a flame war

Aggros lead photo 229KB
Digital griffins photo 56KB
eng22s photo 42 KB
Tstages potrait shot 112 kB

Signatures
spacemouse 187 KB
Twhite 57 kB
Aggro 130 KB

Some of you might consider making these signatures smaller by compressing them
