While it's not listed my unfavorite rail road is AMTRAK. It was the governement in the first place that through high taxation killed all of the private railroads on the East Coast. They Uncle Sams get's into the railroad business, shuts down many routes and continues service on some major routes. The railroads are best left in private hands free from excessive government taxation that makes them unprofitable to run. <br />Airlines fly from place to place and have a very inexpensive place (airports) to operate from. The railroads on the other had to pay taxes on every inch of the right of way, for rail yards, terminals, signals, stations and also collect taxes on fare. Is it any wonder why we don't have hardly any private railroads left on the East Coast? They were all taxed out of existance.
