Good morning, everyone. It's another donut day -- two donut days in less than a week.
I haven't had Spam in a long time, but with all this talk about it, I may buy some today. Like Kevin's recipe, I think it sounds good to have an omelet with salsa, cheese, and spam. I would also put in some onion and green pepper. I don't have time today -- it will have to wait until tomorrow.
My layout has been untouched for several weeks. This week I have to go into the city for a dentist appointment, and I will be able to stop at the hobby store for some styrene pieces I need. I also will just happen to stop at Menards and Home Depot while I'm there. I don't need anything, but it sure is fun to walk around and see all the things I want.
That kind of shopping reminds me of raising my family. I can't tell you how many times I had to find a chair in a mall or a department store while my wife and three daughters "shopped", which meant they tried on every possible piece of clothing the stores carried. I basically sat like an elderly man and watched the people walk by. I could never understand how they liked to shop like that until I went into my first Home Depot.
Once I get the styrene pieces I need, I will be able to continue some work on a chemical plant. I don't have the tracks laid yet, but I want to see how this will all lay out before I commit to laying the tracks.
It's time to leave, so I'll check back when we get home. Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

The Wordle today was one of those words I recall from high school vocabulary lists, but a word I have never written or spoken aloud since then.
By pure luck I got it in four.

Those nasty instant grits served in the likes of Cracker Barrel and other "country" or "southern" restaurant chains should be banned.
Real grits prepared in a real southern diner are wonderful.
One of the best entrees I have ever experienced is the signature dish at Chef Henry's restaurant in Acworth, Georgia. It is fried oysters in cream sauce served over grits with cheese. My basic ingredient description does not do justice to the experience of that meal. It is amazing.
Start out with a bowl of Henry's Gumbo, and finish with his Blueberry Cobbler. Oh, and do not forget the cornbread.

Busy weekend again, but aren't they all this time of year? Still swamped at work, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It's called September. After that, my workload should lighten up a bit.
I bought a Precision Craft SD7 a few weeks ago that needs a decoder and speaker installed in it, but I have yet to even take the shell off it to see what I have to work with for space and connections. I swear I sigh everytime I go by my layout in the basement. It's been too long.

Me too, the movie is much more entertaining. There is nothing funny or amusing in the book that I remember.
Did you prefer book or movie Joker? I liked the book character better, but realize it would not have worked as well in the movie.
The only scene where it really made a difference was his initial confrontation with Animal Mother in Hue City. If I remember the book correctley, they seriously disliked each other, but in the movie it just came across as playful banter.

I preferred the movie Joker. At least in the movie he might have been wired strangely, but at least there were wires.
In the subsequent Phantom Blooper book his decoder lets the smoke out, his wires are fried, and he goes off into the deepest end of the pool (i.e. taking cover during an attack in a muddy slit trench wearing nothing but a Stetson hat).
I think he gets captured in the last part of the book, but I haven't read through it yet.

Per the clip, no self respecting Southerner would use instant grits. I prefer quick grits. They cook up in 5 minutes and are good enough. I like to put butter and cinnamon on my grits. They're reasonably yummy and will stick with you ona cold January day. 5e closest I've had to "real" grits was my introduction to them at a Waffle House somewhere near Atlanta. When we're traveling in a southerly direction, I'll still get grits from a Waffle House. In Georgia, they used to be at just about every freeway exit. Don't know if they still are.

On I-75 from Atlanta to the Florida State Line, there are plenty of Waffle House restaurants.
I am a big fan of the triple hash browns with everything.
They are building a lot of new Waffle House restaurants down here. A new, clean, beautiful Waffle House just does not feel right.
Speaking of strange, I am at a loss that a worthy regular patron of the Diner decries the virtues of porridge!!! I wonder if he has ever tried porridge made from rolled whole grain oats, soaked overnight with an equal amount of water, bought to the boil, and served with a handful of added sultanas, a drizzle of clover honey, and a splodge of fresh cream?

The best my mom's family could offer was a teaspoon of brown sugar and some milk on their grey, skinned over, mush. I was fine with the brown sugar but there was never enough of it to get through the whole bowl. Creme was a luxury that they didn't indulge in, and the milk simply turned the grey mush into a lighter grey soup (and I use the word 'soup' very generously).
As far as the concept of it "sticking to your ribs", in order to stick to my ribs it had to get past sticking in my throat. I had to force myself to swallow it! My dad agreed!!

Dianne and I will be picking up our brand new 2023 Honda Odyssey EXL on Thursday afternoon! We are very happy!
As I may have mentioned, our 2014 Odyssey has started to show signs of age. We had to spend $2000 +- on the suspension last year and the AC has just quit. Those are just a couple of the issues that are rearing their ugly heads so we want to get rid of it before it becomes a money pit. I have to say that I am disappointed that it has not lasted longer. It runs like a charm.
The new Odyssey has every feature imaginable but a lot of them will probably not get used. Dianne and I have been driving for a combined 102 years and we know how to stay in our lanes, not tailgate, and when to lower the high beams. I don't even like using the cruise control. I can do a better job with my right foot. However, I do like the features like the multi-angle rear camera and the blind spot warnings.

Triple hash browns with everything? Hmmm. Sounds good. That's definitely the place to get them. Standard, smothered, scattered, and I think about 3 other options available at Waffle House, but not "animal style," that's In-n-Out.
Back in the early 90s my wife and I went down to Nashville for a weekend because I'd never seen music row or the Opry before. Fun time! On the way home we stopped at a Waffle House on the North end of Nashville after midnight. There were forms of life there I didn't know existed, and I thought I'd seen just about everything back in my days in Hollywood. I don't think we even sat down. We just made a discrete exit and went on our way,...hungry. At least that's how I remembered it.

Doing better today (so far). Got to bed a bit earlier and had a much better night of sleep. Also did not do anything project wise at home. I was basically a couch bum. I needed it.
John, I hope you feel better soon. Not that there is ever a good time to feel ill, it's especially a bummer during warmer weather.
My wife and daughters put together a summer bucket list. It's full of things like going to the beach, kayaking, etc. She said I should put some things on there. I showed her my list. It's full of projects that need to happen while the weather is warm. While she said I was no fun, I don't think she realized that the two lists are mutually exclusive.
