I just recently fit a stay-alive decoder in it. I also filled the saddle tank with tiny steel shot. One of the hang-ups was that it only had pickup from one wheel! I fixed that with a bronze wiper.

Every SGRR "Exchange Service Fleet" freight car is unique. TF has the only forty foot boxcar in the Safety Scheme, and the only fifty foot round roof boxcar. Ed has the only SGRR boxcar with a hyrda-cushion underframe.
Garry and Tony Koester have identical 40 foot boxcars, except Garry's is lettered in yellow and Tony's is lettered in white.
JJ has the only SGRR operating coal hopper in existence.
Making the Exchange Service Fleet is a fun hobby all into its own.
This is the very first HO scale STRATTON AND GILLETTE fifty foot boxcar. I painted this one over twenty years ago. It is also a unique paint scheme since I have become aware the "DF" was not used in 1954. To be honest, I painted this boxcar when the SGRR was still set in 1968.

Here are some hoppers filled with limestone. This scene is one the store layout at Dana's Railroad Supply in Spring Hill, Florida.

Limestone is too heavy to be loaded that high in a hopper car, limestone is much heavier than coal and so the car would be about 3/4's full rather than at the top of the car.

I am fortunate enough to have a fine looking (and operating) Stratton and Gillette Comet Freight refrigerator car, reporting mark SGRT 65138. One of these days I've got to see if I can actually take a decent picture of it and figure what photo site I want to use.
