Heck, Dave, I sure envey you being able to drive to Walthers and go shopping. I do recall "AHC", but my all time favorite was "Hobbies for Men", Now if ever we should lament the passing of a great mail order shop, it would be HFM. As a teenager, I built most of my layout by mowing lawns in the summer, and shoveling snow in winter, and had to watch my pennies. Well, HFM sure did me right back then. These days it seems like everybody is trying to get rich off the hobby. A hundred bucks for an HO scale plastic diesel? come on, get real! And that's when they are on "sale". Shoot, I might as well start scratchbuilding my own stuff for that price...
The worse part of it, all this stuff is being made in countries like China, and Taiwan, where the labor rate is about 5-to 10 bucks a day, IF they are lucky.
Oh well, NAFTA strikes again..........
Todd C.
