its that time of the week again. For new posters WPF is weekend photo fun. It's where we show what we're working on. Well being almost done moving, this is all I can show.
Last train to Rico.
the caboose shown here marks the end of an era- the last Narrow gauge train is leaving Ridgeway Co. when it reaches Rico, scrappers will begin tearing up the little 3ft gauge rails, forever altering railroading in Colorado.
In reality-
this was taken on my late dad's unfinished layout. The plan is to save this section(and Rico), and start building mine. the rest of the layout was only benchwork and rail, so Im saving the only pieces that are important. theyll be on display-fitting tribute to him Id think.

Lets try this again. After lots of help from the forum on wiring issues, the yards are proven, ballasting is underway and cleanup soon to follow.

Good afternoon from Northeast Ohio!
Not much done this week as my son is visiting from Colorado, so I will have to pull a picture out of the archives.
Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
Jimmy will get the pics fixed. They're narrowgauge, so sometimes things wander off the tracks I just happen to have a AHM Rico station kit and will be using it on a HOn3 portable layout I'm building.

Just a few pics from ongoing restoration work on the Tin Cup & Telluride. The darker looking ballast is the last of my Cherry Stone crushed chicken grit, which I used to fill the washout allong there.
Going back up the 13% max grade.
There's some work to do on the Pay Day Mill after a hard winter.

Mike: The restoration work on your outdoor railroad is interesting. Is this something that needs to be done every year? That is one steep grade.

I have something I just finished to contribute this week. Actually, this car was 99% done before I went on vacation. All I needed to do this week was install the trucks and couplers, then adjust coupler height. This freight car is built from a Red Caboose model kit.
It was time to pay tribute to Jim Hediger on the STRATTON AND GILLETTE. I know this is not an OHIO SOUTHERN lettering scheme he ever used, but I wanted the car to stand out in the crowd.
I hope Mr. Hediger would approve of the artistic license.
Keep the contributions coming. I am so glad to be home, but I really miss the beach already.

This was the second winter and the most troublesome part of the RR. Just like the real thing, there's things that keep giving headaches. It's getting there. The base held because I mixed mortar with the ballast, then wet it and let set. To look good and loose, you have to do it in several stages. I'm in no hurry.
13% is crazy steep, but it's what I wanted. Runaways need to be guarded against!

With the Bachmann conversion power trucks, the Shay is a heavy beast. Wally has bumped it enough he has respect for it although probably could knock it over if he lept on it right. It seems to be fun play for him.

I pretty much finished up the PRR M-of-W former RPO car. It will go along with the diner and sleeper for use on the wreck train.

No, the PRR keystone wasn't on the "official" lettering diagrams. I've read enough about what some of the shop people did in the Renovo, PA to customize these cars so it really isn't much of a stretch to have one applied. Besides, I think it looks neat

Was looking forward to this weekend as this is my first post to the WPF in almost 9 years. Working on 13' section of layout. Deck is completed but not attached as well as valence supports to be removed as painting of the backdrop to start. Power recepticles will be hidden by removable buildings. Working on covering insulation on this section of the layout. Only some tracks will be in front of power panel - I know, should not do this but only space available.
There are two 6' sections perpendicular at the ends for staging.
Working on my passion again !

That looks a good start Tom. I'll be interested to see how the panel cover goes. For the outlets, I suppose you could use 90deg plugs and cut a hole in the deck? J.R.
Jimmy, Thanks for opening the WPF with your 'Last Train to Rico'. I like the idea of a layout being a vehicle for remembrances.

This week I did a bit of railfaning around the Boothbay Railway Village layout. We open for the season in a couple of weeks
A new scene at the River Bend Campground just got started, still some work to do
Southport village from a new view angle
Dragon Products cement plant, the Aggreagte Building and fuel tank
A train near Monson Village (the power was off, so the crossing gates are not activated)
The commercial and industruial buildings on the right side grade
Not much goin' on this weekend, installed a sidewalk in Plattsburgh, no pics yet. Got to have a layout tour/op session today though.
I'll be back next week.

I thought I'd better get in here this week, just got back from out place in Northern WI., all opened up and ready for the work to resume.

My lastest project as been the scratch building of a MILW terminal caboose. I've had an on going thread, but I thought I get a couple pictures of the ALMOST finished project:
I'll have the decals in tomorrow's mail, and after decals, I'll do some weather, and call it complete.
Still some weekend left!
