Bob,

Under your profile name on the right side of the screen, click "Settings" "Manage Profile" then "Edit Profile" at the top of the next page.  The "About" text boxes will be located on the right side of the screen.  AND make sure you click "Save Profile" when you are finished.

Hope that helps...

Thanks, shahomy.  You're correct that "Manage Profile" gets you there.  The funny thing is that I checked that TWICE before I posted and could have sworn it was "Settings" that I clicked. Tongue Tied

Anyhow, thanks for the correction.  I edited my original post to show that.

Same place, ATSFGuy.  "Location" is the first one listed under the About heading.

And while we're at it, how do you change your user name? I don't need to change to some clever railroad meme (I'm okay using my 1:1 name), but I'd rather it not be in ALL CAPS. I didn't choose it, it seems to have been assigned to me.

Generally, you can't. Only an admin can change a username, and there had better be a really good reason for it.

I emailed Model Railroader customer service and I took about a month or two but I finally git it changed I didn't even have to  give a reason I just told them my then current username and what I wanted it to be and viola new name. Worst they can say is no.

Do I have to make an official request? My reason is not particularly good: I just don't want people to think I'm trying to compensate for my shortcomings by over-bowing.

Well, Catt, I'm in the same boat.  About six months ago I tried to enter biographical info under "About Attuvian" through the Manage Profile tab.  Hit Save Profile and, and, and - nothing was saved.  Tried again two hours ago when I first saw this string.  Same non-result.  I continue to exist in existential MR limbo because no one can find out who I am!  Tongue Tied  That's a major social emergency these days.

Perhaps I'm being techno-victimized because of my age (73).  BTW, also Michigan-made (in Jackson).

Try putting multiple spaces in the fields you want to change it might get rid of it. That's how I removed my public email at one point.
