Good Morning Gang.

Janie, just coffee in my BLS mug, please. BLS, that is Bern Loetschberg Simplon Railway, my favorite Swiss line.

Campaigning will slow down a little for the next days. There is only one big rally coming up in Hannover, our state capital, on Saturday. From Sunday until Tuesday, I will be able to enjoy a few days off, right in time to get some rest before the campaign will reach its peak. Wednesday next week will see a speech in Cuxhaven, followed by a speech in Rotenburg on Thursday, Wolfsburg on Friday, Soltau on Saturday, Braunschweig on Sunday and Berlin on Monday. On Sept. 17th I will have time for taking a deep breath, before hitting the road for the final 4 days of the campaign.

Official polls are slowly starting to rise, but still are below the threshold of 5% necessary to enter the Bundestag. The "inofficial", Internet-based polls see us way above 10%, which seems to be more likely.

Germany is in for a big surprise on September 22nd!

I did some doodling with my track planning program yesterday evening, while Petra was watching a boring talk show. Remember those 5 little vids I posted the other day? Well, I found them so inspiring I tried my hand on a scenic Z scale modular layout, just for the fun of it. My choice of location is the Goppenstein station, right at the entrance of the Loetschberg tunnel. I have very fond memories of that place, as my family spent quite a number of summer vacations in that area. As a child, I was fascinated by the ride through the tunnel. The road to the south of Switzerlands ends in Goppenstein and you have to load the car onto a train to be ferried through the tunnel. The 20 minute ride through the dark tunnel was kind of scary to me.

I found a near to scale drawing of Goppenstein station which I employed in sketching up the plan for the station module.

now all I need is space, time and money to build it [:-^]

Rob, sorry to hear about your loss.

Blessings to all!
