Bear,

Ah, and how those wondrous childhood dreams can lead to such enjoyable and satisfying pastimes in adulthood, like modeling trash.

Happy Labor Day everyone, thanks and regards, Peter

Construction ahead!

Gigi the GG-1 crosses the bridge to the new section of my layout pretty much devoted to staging.  The bridge is on a liftoff section.  It's a Central Valley Pratt Truss, or it will be when I finish the superstructure.  Right now, it's just the deck with track across it.  On the model, the deck bears the weight and the superstructure is just for show.

I've been filling in the liftoff section with foam to form the river's banks.  The passenger cars are ancient Tyco streamliners that I've redecorated.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

This weekend I did some work on a section of road for my layout.  I added the stripes using Elmers paint pens.

For the most part, I like how the roads turned out.  I started by using Woodland Scenics paint pens but they did not work well AT ALL, so I went back to using the Elmers paint pens which are better and 1/3 the price of the WS paint pens.

Long live the J!

Working on the SP&S 24' Wood Caboose kit I bought a while back, this is my first craftsman kit. I may be a little green at it I like working on them. Hopefully Lowell Smith pulls through with making or getting some SP&S Bay window Cabeese kits made.

Here is the progress this W.E. of my layout :

First test in place of the Gates Factory, I am waiting for detailling parts, to come in france, to finish the building (Hvac, vents, ladders, pipes  ... ). You can also seen the rix aver pass built in curve. It is lot's of job to do that but i think it had an original touch to the scene.

I have also started to built a conerstone roundhouse for my 130' turntable :

It will have 9 sectors :

Lot's of filling and mastic work's :

While I'm not runing geared steam at home, I'm running diesels at the club in San Antonio. I'm not a member (I live 300 miles away) but visit when I'm in town. The guys are great and allow me to get long runs out of my system until next time.  My next layout will be the Milwaukee Road's Northern Montana division, my old stomping grounds.
