If this thread had not taken it's current course, we could have had our own version of STAR WARS [:D] (apolgies to Mr. Lucas but I couldn't resist)

Did we have a joke thread??? Really?? Where'd that sucker go? 100 pages, my, my. Didn't think there were that many railroad jokes in the whole world.

Ahem ...

I think stars should only go to people who can spell properly as some of the stuff on this forum is hard to read.

See? It's easy. Just check what you post before you hit the button.

Now if you can't spell anyway, that's a different problem [B)][B)] (gonna get a black eye for that one) [B)][B)]

It was a joke, okay? Let's see if we can beat the 100 pages of jokes or 125 pages of coffee shop with this thread. Everybody go for another star !! [yeah]

If this turns into a bunch of people posting nonsense for the sake of padding their numbers it will end up locked, the same thing that happened to the "Discontinuance of Stars" topic long ago. Yes, I know I posted earlier but it falls under the "clever" heading [;)]-just my humble opinion.

The moderators are willing to let things go as long and there is the least little bit of merit --ie. clever, informative etc. But they will not put up with total nonsense.

I am not pointing fingers at anyone in particular but I believe this statement about trying to beat those other topics will lead to gobble-d-gook. Just a friendly reminder about the "DOS" topic. Remember the famous quote "Those that do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it."

Many threads die a natural death--let's not make the moderators euthanize this one.[swg]

"...trying to beat those other topics will lead to gobble-d-gook." (Big_Girl_4005)

Well...considering that "stars" are gooble-d-gook in the first place, perhaps adding additional pointless posts here is in fact quite appropriate!

Ya know, everytime I see someone on here complaining about stars, not that you are Polizi, but others that post a very negative response to your topic, all I can think of is "SOUR GRAPES". I just don't see the problem here. [banghead][banghead]

I really wish I could retract the question because I do not want to stir the pot, I only whated to know what they were so if you are reading this and feel like you need to post a reply make it off the wall or something other then the answer to the question. the original question must now die.(Insert moment of silence here). So with that I say party on!!

Bringing this topic back was my fault.

Another newbie asked the same question yesterday, and I posted the link here in order to A) give him the answer, and B) show him why it is dangerous to ask.[swg]

A big sincere thank you to all who ignored the other topic, in other words everyone. Let's put this one back to sleep until the next time a newbie asks.[swg]

Hows this for a solution. [?]
Can we get Bergie or Snitz to just include a brief description of the stars on the FAQ[?] This might just alleviate the quibbling and grumbling each time the question is posed, when all we will have to do is point to the FAQ.
Seems simple enough huh?[%-)]

As far as the stars go, by the time I get [image]http://www.trains.com/community/forum/icons/stars-xpnet/icon_star_red.gif[/image] [image]http://www.trains.com/community/forum/icons/stars-xpnet/icon_star_red.gif[/image] [image]http://www.trains.com/community/forum/icons/stars-xpnet/icon_star_red.gif[/image] [image]http://www.trains.com/community/forum/icons/stars-xpnet/icon_star_red.gif[/image] [image]http://www.trains.com/community/forum/icons/stars-xpnet/icon_star_red.gif[/image] I probably will be too old to even play with the trains. I would much rather sit in my rocking chair remembering all the trains I used to run, rather than all the time I spent staring at a CRT.
