Resin Unlimited Ore Boat???
Posted by gmpullman on Friday, September 10, 2004 12:56 AM
Hey folks
Is there anyone out there who actually has posession of the Resin Unlimited "Edmund Fitzgerald" ore boat that was first shown in the Walther's (1999?) catalog?
I ordered one from Jason Davis of R-U over 2 years ago and have yet to recieve it. My calls and e-mails to him go un-answered...
It has been shown in the Walther's catalog for several years as TBA
Does this kit really exist and does anyone know how to contact Resin Unlimited?
Thanks, Ed

Ed,
Admittedly, it's not the infamous "Edmund Fitzgerald," but if you're just looking for a Great Lakes ship, you might want to consider the Sylvan Scale Models
freighter:

If you add at least one of the expansion sections, if might help fill that empty space on your layout.

Thanks for the info... The website has not been updated since 1-23-2002! I have tried to call Jason Davis (the owner) unsuccessfully. He has my $500. for two years now and will not refund it! Last promise for delivery I got was November, 2003!!!
If I ever get my money back I will go for the Sylvan ore boat.
I had a Bearco (formerly Voco Marine) kit but it was a vacuum formed kit with little detail. Looked like a giant bar of Ivory soap! So when the R-U ship was announced, THAT was the kit for me! For now I have an empty harbor and had to lay off the Hulett unloader crews!
Thanks...

You've been more patient than anyone should be expected to be.

If a business takes your money and fails to deliver in 2 years and stops responding to your attempts to contact them, then they deserve to have a legal complaint filed against them. You may not be the only one victimized in this way.

A polite call or email mentioning that a formal complaint will be filed if you do not receive satisfaction usually gets results. If it doesn't, then follow through and file a complaint against this company in Wisconsin.

Citizens can file consumer complaints by calling the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection at (608) 224-4960 or in-state at 1-800-422-7128. The State Department of Justice will handle consumer cases that get filed in the courts.

Thank you, Wayne
Just today I filed a complaint with the US Postal Service Mail Fraud unit. I really hate to get nasty but all I want is my ore boat. It is still listed in Walther's web catalog and there are four hobby shops mentioned who have recieved the kits. I sent an e-mail to one of the shops to see if they have recieved their kit...
I'll keep you posted
