Holding the railway set

ive got my railway but it keeps on moving around. i got told the you need a certan kind of nail to hold it in place but i have no clue if you need an ordanairy nail or a speical type of one.

Welcome to the board. Glad to see another new face tonight.
As long as you get nails that will reach through the ties roadbed and into the wood or other base underneath. Nothing specail. Make sure you get thin enough to fit through the hole but thick enough to hold it down. If you use to big of a nail you will crack your ties real easily. Another option is glue. Which if you are like me and rebuild all the time, it creates problems. I've rerbuilt 3 times since christmas. But finally on my final trackplan

If your in a pinch an 18 gauge wire finishing nail will do the job. But I find a proper track nail or "spike" works best. Track spikes and nails are avialable at your local hobby shop.
