My suggestion would be to find a Rail Power frame and transfer the Athearn running gear to that. If one is not available is it possible, after you remove all the running gear, to machine or grind the high spot down a little at a time on the frame?
Without being able to see it in person, it's difficult to say what is the best route to mount the couplers. I personally prefer mounting the coupler box to the frame. Other people like body mounted.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Okay..

First...breath...relax......breath..good

Now what kind of shell and what kind of frame.....specific types please....

RPP shells fit Athearn frames most of the time, but some need a little help to marry up. RPP shells also generally don't have pins holes to accept Athearn frames so a little surgery may be in order to both frame and shell. My preffered method to mount the couplers is to tap the Athearn frame and mount a KD box with a 2-56. KD makes a tap/drill and die set to do this. Very helpful tool. You can sometimes use the couplers to hold the shell on. RPP makes frames...or milled down Athearn frames to fit the shells. But unless it's a CF7 you can usually do the work yourself.

So in short. Tell us the specifics and we can probably come up with a solution.

For the high spot on the frame, I'd file or grind it down with a Dremel. Do only what is required to level and be careful. Athearn frames can damaged if you flex them too much or take too much metal out. The shell probably won't have too much material to cut out out before you cause damage, so I'd leave it alone, unless it's absolutely neccessary. Coupler's, like I mentioned before. I like to mount them in the KD boxes to the frame with screws. If you do this last, the couplers can be used to hold the body to the chassis.

Or you could just order the RPP frame for the GP60.

Good luck.
