Granted, nobody makes a plastic SD70MAC, but if you can live with the differences in detail between the SD70 and the SD70MAC, it's a simple matter to repaint Athearn's model in the Grinstein Green paint job. In fact, the banner ad just to the right of where I'm typing has BNSF or Santa Fe SD75Ms for sale, with 2 or more for $49.95 each. That's hard to beat. You could have a pair of SD75Ms painted in that scheme for less than retail of one SD75M.

Of course, if you're a stickler for detail and you just couldn't sleep at night knowing that your custom painted "SD70MACs" are really SD75Ms, then you might want to dig deep into your wallet and grab those brass models... you won't see SD70MACs in plastic anytime soon.

Now, here's a thought:

I just bought a case of SD75Ms to paint as BNSF 8270, the first SD75M to wear BNSF Premium Heritage paint (green and orange). This locomotive was just painted a few weeks ago and mine will be for sale on ebay in a few weeks. So, if this might be a better solution, look for these models toward the end of May on ebay.

RC
RC's Custom Diesels
Durango, Colorado
