In my office, which is about 12x13. the layout whwn completed will be U shaped on the wall about 10x12x13.

haha. the whole upstairs is mine. the first room is mine which is decent sized compared to my last one, and the 2nd is nothing more than a storage room but was used as a bedroom in the 30s up until the late 70s. and then the attic.

when i finally get my own place i'm building a huge layout, well bigger than the one i'll have now.

N scale built in a "study" which isn't a study any more. The room is 9 1/2 by 13 and can handle a nice size layout that gives me an N scale empire. I would suggest that studies are the least used rooms in the house for many and is a great place for an N scale layout.

i built a 30 x15 shed down the back of the block and it is only a 30 feet walk from the back door i model in ho and i have gone around the wall with my design and it is an all train shed

I thought I'd be the only person with a Dining Room Railroad, but I see someone else has already posted. All of our bedrooms are in use, the family room is pretty well taken up by the home theater system, and our house doesn't have a basement. Thankfully, since we have an eat-in kitchen my wife let me take over the dining room. Her only request was that I be able to move it out over the Thanksgiving-Christmas period when we do a lot of entertaining. I'm building my railroad on 2" extruded foam, and have a ledge off of my loft/office area that is a bit over 4' X 8', so that is where I plan to relocate during the holiday period.

It completely fills a 60' x 30' section of the basement. Under construction, benchwork almost done, part of the mainline and all of the main staging are done. It will be operational this spring.

I'm in Texas where basement's unfortunately don't exist. I closed in one stall of my garage and added heat & A/C. It's 9 x 17 and S scale.

My layout is 16' x 12' and is in the attic. You see, the problem with the UK is that not many houses have basements. And we definitely do not have th espace that house in the US have. However, if you're lucky you can get up in the attic, floor it over and there you are. Of course, the problem with modern houses like mine is that the rafters can be limiting. But with imagination and determination .... it looks good. It does tend to get hot in the summer though!

On the basement floor. Temporarily I hope. Believe it or not I may set up in our greenhouse! It's 14x14 no floor - but it's heated and I believe it's about 5 degrees outside tonight. so I just might start clearing a spot..............

Garage - 7' x 10' layout. My house is technically 3 stories, but only the garage is on the lowest floor. It does make a long hike from my room (top story) where I do all my modeling work to the garage. My parents are kind of mad because the layout takes up just enough space so that they can't park a car in the garage. I think they could, but it would entail parking it at an angle. Anyways, this is essentially my layout -

My layout is in a lumber yard, and its rolling stock either doesn't exist yet or is in Alton,IL's hobby shop, the Green Caboose. In other words, ITS NOT BUILT YET!!! Maybe I'll start on a beginner layout this summer...

Train-Master, that is a really neat small layout plan, where did you find it? It has a long continuous run with 2 passing sidings, but also has a way to reverse the train in either direction. Most small plans aren't that nice.

Well if I ever get the room prep done the layout (HO) will be in the basement. I have roughly a 24 by 38 foot area but that area has to be shared with utilities and a couple other small considerations.

My current layout is in three 18 gallon RubberMaid containers and five smaller, but well padded Sterilight car cases I made. I run my trains and currently keep my skills up at a club. My last layout was 2' x 12' in the garage/basement tucked into the cupboard under the stairs.

Mine will be located above the garage. It will be approx, 9x25, about 90% benchwork completed and just waiting on more money to continue.
