Well, I just got 4 Kato SD70MACs in BNSF and still need to get the two Cream/Green ones. Then of course, I already have about $500-00 ready for the Athearn BNSF/BN versions when they hit the streets later this year. Currently on the water are: 4 P40/P42s; 1 SD40T-2; 1 SD60; 2 SD75Ms and 3 SD70Ms for CSX. I hope to stop (ha-ha!) after the Athearn locos MACs come. Last year I ended up buying about 40 Locos, 16 of them SD75M/Is.

I checked three to six, but am taking an Amtrak to California in August and plan to hit as many shops as I can while I'm there, especially Bruce's in Sacramento, so six may be a conservative number. I have alos recently rebuilt my 18 inch radius curves to 22 and can now run larger (steam & early diesel) equipment. Speaking of which, the rebuild project becons from the cold, cold basement (the highest temp the last few days was in the mid teens-Erie, PA-My cousin has it warmer in North Pole Alaska).

With all of the new models being announced and released I am sure that I will go over my projected number for the poll. I already have 6 on order.

It all depends on the currency rate between the US dollar and the Australian dollar. I model Australian railways, but the loco's use Athearn motors. I do have a collection of UP loco's, which I use on the club layout, I would like to get an Athearn SD70M.

I plan to add the Spreewald DR and a Porter if money allows, also wanting to add a 21510 Federal Railway diesel (now hard to find). Having an indoor LGB layout it is very space limiting. Great magazine...........keep it up![:D]

I'm saving up for an HO Rivarossi Big Boy and an FEF-3. Then after that (if the budget permits it) I'd like to get a Spectrum 2-8-0 and a P2K P.A. I'd also like to get some CB&Q units.

I have decided to switch to DCC so that will consume my modelling budget and time for this year and probably next.

I would have voted 1 to 3 but I already have two engines, a Conrail SD40-2 Powered-Dummy set, so I voted 4 to 6

Last year (2003) was my big year of buying engines:

seven Rivarossi 2-8-4 (beginning of the year, BEFORE Life Like started advertising theirs!)
six P2K 2-8-4 (the Rivs are now for sale...)
one Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2
one BLI 2-8-2
one Bachmann Spectrum 44-tonner
four P1K F3A
five Oriental Powerhouse 2-8-2
two P2K 0-6-0

This year, I'm only planning on picking up six:
two BLI 2-8-2
one BLI NW-2
one Spectrum 4-6-0
one Athearn Genesis 4-6-2
one P1K RS-2

And, of course, purging over 50 older engines from my loco fleet!

Notice that three of the six engines I'm planning on buying this year are BLI sound-equipped engines. If more companies would release QSI sound equipped engines, I'd be buying their products, too!

Probably only 1 to 3 for me, as my fallen flag(Maine Central,Harvest Gold w/ Green paint scheme) has a very little following, not to mention that one can only have so many U-boats and GP-38's(never seen a U-18B, by anyone besides kitbashing r us )

Gosh! I have never purchased a RTR locomotive. I am steam only and have some extremely modified diecast kit locos from the 50's and early 60's. I still "get" new locomotives, but by using bits and pieces from other folks discards coupled with a good amount of scratchbuilding. I will end up with at least two "new" locos this year, but will not purchase them. I might purchase an offering one day, but the detail will have to be vastly improved over what is currently available, the gearing will need improvement, and they will need precision instrument motors. And, yes, I am what many refer to as an old fart.

Well, lets see....so far this year I've bought an Athearn Conrail SD-50, Broadway Limited PRR T-1, Proto 2000 E-7, (undec, will be PRR), and an Athearn S-12 (undec). I'm waiting for a Broadway Limited PRR M-1, and would like a Broadway limited PRR J-1.

So much stuff I want, so little money.[sigh]

As long as they keep producing the high quality steam locos in HO,I'll keep buying them.
I was getting so frustrated with my old fleet of R-T-R,kit builts and EXPENSIVE brass, that I was considering getting out of the hobby or changing over to all diesel. Now the quality plastics run much smoother than my re-powered brass. IT'S FUN AGAIN!

Well ??? Let's see, last year I bought 2 Big Boys, 2 Challengers ( 1 w/6 pass. cars), and a few smaller ones, (4-6-2,2-6-6-2, etc.) total of 8 . "Yahoo" Had a pretty good buying year, just hope this one gets better, if the plan works, lol, I'm a steam freak, all my Loco's are steam, even sold all the newer diesel power I had on Ebay, didn't fit my time period, ya know ! Well all, have a great year and keep building steam.
