I model the BN and is more of a fun watch the trains layout rather than anything serious, but after a trip to the states that's in the pipeline that my change!

P.S I have a 7.25 inch gauge track in my garden... but I think thats a litlle big for this topic (though my F7 A-B is quite impressive if I do say so myself! lol!)

That fits; 7 1/4 in the garden and OO in the bedroom. You don't have your garden backing onto the 4ft 81/2 R-O-W by any chance?[;)][:D]

Hi Lupo, I haven't lived in Denver for almost 20 years, but when I did, I saw 4005 almost every day. It was in pretty rough shape back then, sitting outside in the weather. I heard that within the last few years it has been moved indoors. I have no idea if it was actually moved or had some kind of shelter built around it, but it shouldn't decay any further.

I always thought that most homes in European countries were modest in size. How did you manage to fit the entire Cheyenne roundhouse into yours? [:P][;)][:D]

Mine is modeled in the midwest of North America. I model what I am familiar with, I grew up half a block from a CNW commuter line and worked for them back in the mid-70’s.

I think the reason I have little interest in European trains is just because I cannot relate to them, having never been overseas. It would be hard to model a European line accurately without having to relearn a whole lot of different information. Also they are so much more expensive, justifiably because they appear to be very well made, but still out of my budget.

I recently heard a teenager at a GATS complaining to his friend about what the big deal was with steam locos & F unit “covered wagons”, he couldn’t relate to them because he’s probably never seen one (except maybe in a museum).

i model the Boston and Maine and the Maine central. because Maine is the best state in the union. BUT i'm in the navy and i'm now in ITALY. so my layout went with me. AND BY THE WAY IT"S N-SCALE. It's about 50% done i've scratch built a rollercoaster for Old Orchard Beach as well as the Pier. I'm now looking for a Zephyer to add to the completeness. The time frame is 1943 to be exact. And it is four 2'x4' Moduels. i'm getting ready to add two more.

you are right about the average home size, but I live above my screenprint works and I am blessed with a 25' x 70' living room where I have enough space to build, but not the cheyenne roundhouse,it is just too big,I have room for just a 12 stalls Heljan (app half circle) roundhouse,
but I am thinking about changing it for the new Walthers roundhouse engineshop and matching 135' turntable.
My LO will be [:0][:0]freelanced locomotive works with UP engines[:0][:0]

I hope so too. No matter, I'll just follow whatever comes next. I'm stuck on that territory more than anything.

USA. Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California. However, I have some European models that I picked up when I was over in Germany and Austria and fell in love with their railroads, so every now and then, when I'm in the mood and have had one too many bratwursts, the Sierra Nevada suddenly become the Austrian Alps and I run my Crocodiles. Have to imagine the catenary, though.

Actually, although I also learned in school that there are seven continents, in traveling around the world I've come to find that not everyone in the world has the same view. Here's a short blurb from a website listing different views on how many continents there are:

QUOTE: How Many Continents Are There?
Depending on how you count them, there are anywhere from 4 to 7 continents. The difference of opinion arises because some people consider Europe and Asia to be one continent, some people consider North and South America to be one continent, and a few people even consider Europe, Asia, and Africa to be one huge continent called Eurafrasia.

What are the Names of the Continents?
As mentioned above, not everyone agrees on exactly how the world is divided into continents, but these are the entities you will sometimes see referred to as continents:

Africa
Asia
Eurasia
Eurafrasia
Antarctica
Europe
Oceania
Australia
America
North America
South America

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Five Ways to Count Continents

#1 - Seven Continents
Africa - Antarctica - Asia - Europe
North America - South America - Oceania

#2 - Six Continents
Africa - Antarctica - Eurasia - Oceania
North America - South America

#3 - Six Continents
Africa - America - Antarctica
Asia - Europe - Oceania

#4 - Five Continents
Africa - America - Antarctica
Eurasia - Oceania

#5 - Four Continents
Eurafrasia - America - Antarctica - Oceania

I just mention this since we are on a world-wide forum and not everyone has the same view.

Regards

Ed

Despite what others may "consider" what is a continent, Webster and plate techtonics show there are seven continents.
