Outside of books on railroading, there aren't any RR items on my list. I usually ask for "train money" so that I can buy exactly what I need - there aren't any RR shops that are near to me and, with few exceptions, I usually buy exactly what I need on eBay or an online hobby shop. It's hard for someone else to buy me N scale items - also, with the money, I can buy used freight cars when I visit the faraway shop. My closest hobby train shop is about 170 miles from here, so I don't run there every time I need some small item!
