on our club, traveling, layout we are using a PM 42 to isolate the various tracks should there a be a short on one that it doesn't affect the entire layout. I'm not the one that's actually working on it. They've had it working in the past at one of our recent shows. Now that we moved it back to the clubhouse, a short on any track will cause the command station To go into protect
My question is, does the PM 42 need to have its "Ops" switches reset every time it loses power?
Check the power supply to your PM42. PM42 must be powered in order for it to operate. If power is not connected or malfunctioning the default on a PM42 is "ON". External power runs the board and energizes the relays to disconnect track power. The relays are normally on and allow track power to flow. PM42 should retian its OP SW settings when not powered. We have 7 of them for our NTRAK layouts and have never had to reset the Op switches. They spend most of their time stored in our club trailer.
