Hi ... I just joined the forum because I suspect that someone here can help me. I do have HO rolling stock, locos, etc. but they are in storage at the moment. Right now, near retirement, I am building a 1/32 slot car track, scenery, etc. After this, the HO pike.
The track is 12volt DC, analog, with dynamic braking (so positive goes directly to the controller, negative and the brake wire go to the track. The driver can push a momentary switch which activates a switch in the lane to send the car into the pits. (really like a momentary coil RR switch)The pits are live along with the track. Here is what I would like to do. I would like the driver to drive the car to in front of a pit, ending up on a section which is powered but is isolated from the rest of the track. Then I would like the driver to push a button that would cut power to a 6-inch or so isolated section which I have wired for this purpose. The button would activate a 10-second delay relay. This would cut power and the section would power up after ten seconds. In RR terms, basically, the train goes into the section, powers down, the engineer pushes the button, the relay cuts power to the block for 10 seconds, and then the engineer can power up and leave the block. I purchased a 10-sec. delay timer with push button ..but I really do not know what I am doing. It seems to me that this should be doable ...
I would greatly appreciate any help or advice as to how to wire this, equipment needed, etc.thanks so much... all my very best charles
