Thanks Mark!
I built that many years ago and for it's time, it sounded really good. With the addition of some additional pots, you could fine tune it to sound like different prime movers. I fed the output to a 100 watt amplifier which drove a pair of 12 inch sub-woofers ! I could rattle the walls with it !
I also built another kit that included multiple horns and bells to get the full effect, but it still wasn't onboard the actual engine. Pretty cool for what it was, but doesn't even remotely compare to what we have today.
I mounted the complete thing in a nice self contained cabinet and still have it squirrelled away somewhere here.
Mark.

Hello! I was reading up on the Cripple Creek Central model railroad by Jim Kelly in my old MR Magazines from 1991 and happened across an article about the SDX-1 Diesel Sound System. I'm wondering if anyone here built this kit, and if it sounds realistic compared to today's sound cards? Thanks, Arvin
