gmpullman In an effort to assuage anyone's fears about the aforementioned OpSw (Option Switch) 01, I decided to risk life and limb and go ahead and perform the fatal operation. I have a spare DCS200 that I use on the workshop test track and made the potentially dangerous and irreversable procedure there. All family members and pets were kept at a safe distance. Report: zilch. In a display of further bravery I made a few random changes to OpSw 02, 04, 06,07,08, 16, 19, 24, 29, 30 32, 35, 40 and 46 which are also noted "Do Not Change" in the manual and, so far, have not witnessed any perilous results. We can all sleep better tonight. While I was at it I was able to refresh my latent Bushby Bit Regards, Ed

Very possible those "do not touch" options are there for software testing purposes, or a future expansion.
Worst case, the command station stops working and needs a reset. In most cases you might not even notice whatever change that option switch caused. Or it crashes when you do something in a specific sequence.
Much like your computer.

I suppose I would wonder, as a former tech-type engineer, why Digitrax would send out consumer products with Option Switch #1 even operable.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
PennCentral99 Not sure, but, on Digitrax website, it clearly states: "Be sure that you are changing the correct Command Station Option Switches as the unit can be crippled by closing the wrong switches. NEVER CLOSE OPTION SWITCH #1!!" Hopefully you wouldn't see or smell smoke and your command station would need a trip to Florida Terry

I see Q telling Bond, "See that red button? Whatever you do, don't push it."

Just curious, as I was reading a proublem on this forum that someone else had and while looking up stuff, this warning came up.
