Mr. B, that store front is still vacant. Pity Gerry had to close the shop. Speaking of which, Gerry is still doing installs and repairs. He has a small space at Steve Lamb's shop. Some sad news, Steve passed away rather suddenly about 6 weeks ago. I don't know if you knew Steve, but he was truly a great guy. He put a lot of energy and time into the "Youth in Model Railroading" (not sure of exact name of the organization) for many years.

The now long gone Maine Trains in Chelmsford, MA. The landlord jacked up the rent and Gerry, who was feeling the typical economic pressures of keeping the store open, realized it was time to retire. I moved to Delaware some years later. I never saw that little storefront used for anything again.

I put sound in a LL P2K SW1200 and an Atlas S1. I used Loksound and I recall I removed the cab interiors for the speaker location.
It's been years ago I done those. I would look into using speakers that are arch shape to fit the underside of the cab roof.
I did a sugar cube and ESU micro in a pair of ALCO switchers not too long ago. Wasn't too bad and only shaved a little bit of the weight off to fit the speaker.

I've got a couple of small Proto switchers, bought early on in my modern modeling career. I put a motion decoder in one, but even doing that was challenging, so when it came time to upgrade, I took it to my LHS and had it done professionally. I ended up with a Loksound and couldn't be happier.
Not the same, but similar. I installed a Soundtraxx TSU-750 and a small Railmaster Hobbies speaker in a Life-Like (Walthers) Alco S3. There isn't much space to work with in these small units; so, the TSU-750 went under the hood and the the speaker went on the underside of the roof cab.

Has anyone successfully installed DCC with sound in a Proto SW-8. I picked up a Tsunami 2 and an 8 ohm sugar cube speaker and plan on attempting an install. I'm curious if anyone else has tried.
