The motor was is isolated to start with so that was not a problem. There is a DC circuit board that has to be removed and it does not affect its operation when installing a decoder. I did have to cut the shrink wrap off of the decoder along with the extra function wires to make it fit. I wrapped the decoder in Kapton tape to protect the the board. I carefully removed the roof so I could finish installing the decoder in the cab. Also removed some of the plastic tube under the coal box to get some extra room. Tight fit but works. Sorry no pictures.
cowjock Just finish shoehorning a digitrax DZ126T decoder into a Bachmann n scale Thomas. It actually runs suprisingly well on the stock settings. What a job, having big fingers absolutly didn't help. I actually had to removed the roof to get the wires and decoder into place. Hope my grand kids like it.

Pics? Did you have to isolate the motor?
