Not with Loksound. I just tried it 2 ways. On SS4 a short and repower and a tip to one side and both times the start up sequence started and then throttled up. Except the short. When my Power Cab restarts after a short the throttle is 0.

If you want to keep the F8 start up then there is nothing to change. Just remember every interruption of power the decoder will be silent until you press F8. If you want the prime mover sound when you turn on the track power, then the CVs to change are there.

The startup will begin again if there is no keep alive unit.

I thought the "startup sequence" was skipped IF the throttle was at any "non-zero" speed step setting. Pretty sure mine are all set up that way. I could be wrong.

What will happen if there is a power interuption, say a temporary short?

Will all the sounds continue as they were, or will the start up sequence restart?

Here is a list of CVs to change that will give you sound on power up and will mute on F8. This is for diesel non factory equipped locomotives but should also work on factory equipped also. Probably best to use programming track and take note of the default CVs so you can easily change them back.

CV31 to 16.  CV32 to 3. These are the index CVs

CV403 to 32 this is the prime mover sound and 32 will allow mute on F8 set to 0 if you don't want mute.

CV419 to 0. This is the engine start.

CV433 to 0

CV435 to 0

CV437 to 0

CV451 to 0.

Not only will the prime mover start but the reverser while stopped and the traction motor sounds while driving and the dynamic brake sounds will work if equipped.

Don't forget to set the index CVs first. Think of them like a book. CV 31 would be the chapter and CV32 would be the page. Then you can read and change all the 400 CVs.

   Hope this helps.
