Is Lionel HO Polar Express DCC compatible?

A friend told me this evening that he has a Lionel HO Polar Express that he controls with an app on his smart phone.  I haven't seen it yet but would it be possible to run that engine on a DCC railroad?

There are a couple of YouTube reviews on the Lionel HO Polar Express showing them using it with DCC.
