ESU LokSound 5 AUX output on E-Stop?
Posted by Pyrodron on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 12:20 PM

I am trying to see if it is possible to enable an AUX output when the emergency stop is pressed and disable it when the engine starts moving. I bought a Bachmann Amtrak Charger and gutted it so that I could put in a LCD screen for the destination board. I'm trying to get the Emergency Strobe tied to the Emergency Stop button so that it operates prototypically.

Welcome to the forum.  Your posts are delay in moderation for a short while.

Relevant details we don't have is what DCC system you are using and what decoder you have.  Your title told us that, sorry

The behavior of the NCE Powercab Emergency Stop is different from the Procab.  As it is a function of the command station, I am doubtful it can be modified to make anything light.

If you have a LokProgrammer, there are settings that this output or function can be activated automatically when:

(Example) - AUX Output 3&4 - Forward direction ONLY, Flash with F2, F6 ON. (Ditch Lights to flash prototypically when approaching a grade crossing on a locomotive I own. AUX 3 Phase A, AUX 4 Phase B.)

So, if your E-stop is set to activate via a F button, like say F10, it would look something like this:

AUX (Y) - ON when F10 ON. (Here, F10 function programming would need to be changed to Emergency Stop.)

There might be a setting for a throttle button E-Stop to activate a AUX output, but I've never tried it myself. (Depends on how the CS handles the throttle's E-Stop button command.)
