Earlier this evening I was searching through eBay's model railroad listings and I came across these:

That's right. The listing is for 0201 pre-wired warm white LEDs! I need more LEDs like another hole in the head but I just had to try some out. They are coming from China so they won't be here for a while, but when they do arrive I will be sure to give them a test run and let everybody know how well they work.

Wow, those are tiny! I'm getting lazier with LEDs and now only buy the prewired resistor variety.

They are very small-I have seen them on some PCB's. Nice to see them with the wires already soldered to them, have to give them a try. Thanks for sharing.

I got 500 of the 603s for $2.20 from China, they were in my hands in eleven days. I made a holder for soldering using a painting edger screwed to a piece of hardwood. Works like a charm.

0201 is the imperial equivalent to 0603.
That's a problem with SMD designations. Some are a size reference, like 0201, some are the actual measurements (or close) in millimeters, like 0603 is .6 x .3 mm. Here's a table of some of the common sizes:

I get the same ones from BC Robotics Dave, and they're usually here in less than a week.
For anybody interested in electrical gadgets and components (most of them well out of my capabilities) they seem to have some interesting stuff, especially for remote control of all sorts of things.

I believe you did find a smaller LED Dave. I’ve been dinking around on eBay (that’s where I buy all of my electronic goodies since the local parts houses closed) for a couple of hours. Most of the sellers list the SMD LEDs by the Imperial number, some list both Imperial and metric.The smallest I’ve bought is the 402(1005) and the 201(603) is much smaller.I can manage to solder #46 Litz wire to the 402 but I don’t think Shaky Mel can handle soldering wires to the 201 so buying them prewired would be a good thing.I don’t have a use for a 201 but I’m going to order some anyway just to have them in my Mel stock. I stock the 402s, 603s and 1206s in warm white, red and amber. Early on I bought a 100 piece 5 color assortment of both the 603s and 1206s.

i have some of those, and they're great.I found for class lights I have to use around a 5K to 7K resistor, or they're too bright.
