ESU 50310 CabControl compatible circuit breakers?
Posted by Chuck Stuettgen on Friday, January 1, 2021 5:02 PM

Hi there,

I'm looking for information about which DCC circuit breakers are compatible / recommended for use with the ESU 50310 Cab Control.

Searches for the words 'ESU compatible circuit breaker' on these forums haven't yielded any useful information.

Google search results have proven to be as equally fruitless. Typically returning years old queries by people seeking the same information or a few replies about using automobile light bulbs as a workaround.

Are there truly no DCC circuit breakers that will function correctly with ESU controllers?

Thanks

Chuck

Generally they are all compatible - I'm not aware of any special need of the ESU CabControl when it comes to circuit breakers. You won't find much talk about minority (in the US) DCC brands, since the two most popular are NCE and Digitrax, that's about all any of the circuit breaker manufacturers will mention.

You'd be better off searching for ESU CabControl Circuit Breaker Issues or similar to see which ones have problems. I don't see why the PSX line wouldn't work.

Randy,

From the responses I received to my queries on the ESU Support Forum and the LokSound GroupsIO group, you are correct. The PSX line of circuit breakers with latest revision of firmware will indeed work properly, as they can be programmed to trip faster than the ESU controllers will.

Thanks
